Resolution Relating to Renewal of an Expiring Referendum
Background:
The Board Finance Committee met in early March to review long-term budget planning and financial forecasting for the District. As part of this discussion, the committee considered the renewal of the District’s existing operating referendum, which is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2028.
Legislative changes enacted during the 2023 session authorize school boards to approve a one-time renewal of an existing referendum at the same amount and term as originally approved, without submitting the question to voters. An overview of this renewal option and the associated process was presented to the School Board at the April Board meeting.
In accordance with statutory requirements, the District has provided an opportunity for public comment and is now seeking Board approval to renew the existing operating referendum.
