Establish Rates for 2015-16 Dental Programs
Background:
Mankato Area Public Schools recently received renewal information for the self-insured dental program administered by Delta Dental of Minnesota. Attachment I is a summary report detailing the current financial status of the self-insured dental program bank account. Attachment II is the renewal calculation and recommended renewal rates as determined by Delta Dental. The projected claims cost and equivalency rates for the Employee Only coverage increased by 5.4%, while the claims cost and equivalency rates for Family coverage decreased by 2.8%. The rate for single dental insurance will increase from $30.69 to $32.35 and the rate for family will decrease from $76.49 to $74.38.
A voluntary dental program has been implemented to provide optional dental insurance benefits for employee groups that previously did not have access to group dental insurance plans. There is no employer contribution to the plan. Attachment III reviews the recommended 2015-16 monthly rates for the Delta Dental voluntary dental plan.

Recommended Action:
The Employee Insurance Committee and the administration recommend continuation of the dental plans at the proposed rates.
