BACKGROUND
Unintech Consulting Engineers, Inc., has been contracted for the Preliminary Design, Final Design, Bid Phase, Construction/closeout services for the FM 78 South Channel Silt Removal Project. It has been determined that temporary and permanent drainage and access easements are necessary for proper access to the channel and for future maintenance. Staff recommends contracting with Unintech for the needed easement acquisition services. Unintech will prepare the easement documents and coordinate the purchase of easements with each property owner. The actual costs of the easements will be the City’s responsibility and will be handled by separate agreement.
GOAL
To obtain authorization from City Council for the City Manager to execute a task order with Unintech Consulting Engineers, Inc., for easement acquisition services for the FM 78 South Channel Silt Removal Project.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT
The project's goal is to remove silt and reshape the drainage channel south of FM 78 approximately 2,500 feet to the discharge point on the Cibolo Creek. This maintenance will allow the channel to function more efficiently and at its intended capacity. The easements that are the subject of this resolution will provide access for ongoing maintenance of the channel.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends the authorization of execution of the task order with Unintech Consulting Engineers, Inc., for the easement acquisition services for the FM 78 South Channel Silt Removal Project for $14,000 with a Not To Exceed expenditure amount of $17,000.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the cost of the easement acquisition services shall not exceed $17,000 and is available in the capital project budget previously allocated from the fiscal year 2020 General Fund budget.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution 24-R-70.
