BACKGROUND
The Schertz Police Department has a need to have access to a non-consensual tow service to conduct routine police services. Therefore, a Non-Consensual towing agreement with a Towing Company relating to the non-consensual towing of wrecked, disabled, or illegally parked vehicles for which the driver is incapable of driving, vehicles to be processed for evidence, and vehicles belonging to subjects being arrested by City police officers is necessary. The current contract was expiring, and a new RFP was issued for said services.
GOAL
Update the current non-consensual towing service contract that was up for review and just went through an RFP process to provide Schertz PD access to non-consuenual wrecker service.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT
Improve and maintain traffic safety management on the roadways within the City of Schertz, via a non-consensual towing agreement.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDED ACTION
The current non-consenual wrecker service contract was up for review and the City released an RFP for non-consenual towing and wrecker services. Road Runner Towing was the highest ranked responded and Ctiy Staff hereby recommends that the City approve the recommendation to award the contract to Road Runner Towing.
FISCAL IMPACT
This is not an expenditure contract, it is a revenue generating service contract based on the number of non-consensual tows Schertz PD utilizes.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution 24-R-71.
