CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
| City Council Meeting: | September 17, 2024 |
| Department: | Facility & Fleet |
| Subject: | Resolution 24-R-115 - Authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Hansco, Inc. to demolish City buildings (B.James/D.Hardin) |
BACKGROUND
There are 3 properties located throughout the city that are unoccupied and have structural issues. The properties are located at 1049 Live Oak R, 1298 Borgfeld Rd, and Lower Seguin Rd. There are structural and foundational issues, and the buildings are not up to the City’s current building code. The buildings are currently unoccupied, and the city has no use for them. The cost of repairs for all 3 structures exceeds the value of the actual structure.
The City issued a solicitation for proposal (RFP) from qualified contractors with demonstrated competence and experience in building demolition and asbestos removal. Three (3) proposals were received in response to the solicitation. After review and scoring, the city recommends contracting with the highest ranked firm, Hansco, Inc., to demolition the buildings.
This information was previously provided to Council during the February 6th meeting.
