| City Council Meeting: | December 3, 2024 |
| Department: | Parks, Recreation & Community Servic |
| Subject: | Resolution 24-R-161 - Authorizing an increase in expenditures with Musco Sports Lighting for the Schertz Soccer Complex Lighting Project (S.Gonzalez/L.Shrum) |
BACKGROUND
Council previously approved Resolution 24-R-100 authorizing expenditures with Musco Sports Lighting, LLC, a BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative vendor, in an amount not to exceed $1,843,000 for the Schertz Soccer Complex Lighting Project. In discussions with the Chief Building Official, it was determined that an engineered site plan would be needed for the new conduit run to Field 12 since the original complex plans did not include an electrical plan for Field 12. Musco Sports Lighting is able to provide an engineered plan from their engineer for Change Order #1 in the amount of $6,500. City staff is requesting authorization to add 5% contingency to cover Change Order #1 and to be able to address any other items that come up throughout the contstruction project.
GOAL
The goal is to add contingency to the project so that additional items needed can be accommodated through the change order process.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT
The community will benefit from the lighting project being completed on schedule in time before the spring recreational soccer season begins.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve Resolution 24-R-161.
FISCAL IMPACT
A five percent contingency of $92,150 is being requested for change orders that may come up as we work through the construction process. The new not to exceed total is $1,935,150. The Parks General Fund Budget can fund any potential contingency costs and city staff can also approach Schertz EDC for additional contingency funds as the project progresses. The first Change Order is in the amount of $6,500.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution 24-R-161.
