| Subject: | Resolution No. 19-R-116 - Consideration and/or action approving a Resolution by the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, calling a special election to be held on November 5, 2019 for the purpose of electing a Councilmember for place 4 for the remaining year of the unexpired term and making provision for the conduct of the election; authorizing contracts with the elections administrators of Bexar and Guadalupe counties to conduct this election; authorizing the election to be held as a joint election; resolving other matters incident and related to such election; and declaring an effective date. BACKGROUND
Pursuant to the City Charter and the Texas Constitution, Councilmember Cedric Edwards has automatically resigned his Place 4 seat on the City Council in order to run for Mayor and the City must call a Special Election before September 20th, to be held November 5th, to fill the vacancy. Councilmember Edwards will continue to serve until such time as his successor is elected and qualified.
