| Subject: | Resolution 26-R-081 — Authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding with Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District for the Schertz Young Leaders Program. (Recreation Manager Cassie Paddock) |
BACKGROUND
The Schertz Young Leaders Program was established in 2022 with an informal participation agreement between the Schertz Parks & Recreation Department and Schertz-CiboloUniveral City Independent School District (SCUCISD) staff.
Designed for students in grades 10 through 12, the Schertz Young Leaders program provides participants with a unique opportunity to explore leadership through hands-on experiences, personal development, community engagement, and direct interaction with local leaders. Throughout the school year, students challenge themselves to step outside their comfort zones, build meaningful relationships, and discover how leadership can make a lasting impact both personally and professionally.
SCUCISD staff would like to formalize the agreement with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to recognize student participation in the program as an approved extracurricular activity for attendance purposes. SCUC ISD Board of Trustees approved a Memorandum of Understanding at their regular meeting on July 9, 2026.
