The Public Works Department has previously identified a need to seek services for tree and brush removal in two areas of the city. These have been identified as the areas of Cibolo Creek along Palm Park (generally beginning at FM 78, continuing south approx. 1,000’) and the Railroad right-of-way along the northern part of FM 78 (generally from Dietz Creek to Cibolo Creek). 
 
City Staff have requested proposals from contractors to perform tree and brush removal services in these areas, and seven (7) proposals were received and evaluated by City staff. Staff recommend awarding the contract for the two project areas to South Texas Tree Service, LLC based on the contractor’s cost and qualifications proposal.

To approve the Services Agreement.

Appropriate vegetation management in these areas will improve both the aesthetic value, maintenance accessibility and drainage system efficiency for the community.

Staff recommend approval of the Resolution authorizing the Services Agreement between South Texas Tree Service, LLC and the City of Schertz.

Funding for these projects was previously approved and allocated by Council as supplemental requests in FY 25-26 for $250,000. Staff will bring a budget adjustment to council to reauthorize a portion of that budget amount that is required for this project. The clearing services are $160,000 and additional expenses are required to move forward with the railroad portion and will also be included in the budget adjustment. Staff expects the total cost to be less than the original $250,000.

Staff recommends approval.
