Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the purchase of a new Vehicle Gateway Base Station System (VGB) for Public Works Department, Water Division. (Manuel Rojas, Assistant Public Works Director)
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends the purchase of the VGB meter reading equipment since it will upgrade our current system and will allow us to electronically read the new radio/antennas (MXU 520M). The Sensus will be discontinuing the current radio/antennas that we are currently using (MXU 520R), and we will transition to the new radio/antennas by December 2017. Subject purchase, a sole source purchase from Dana Kepner Company, an authorized provider of Sensus metering systems in Arizona. Under San Luis City Code-Purchasing Section 36.02 where there is only one provider then the purchase may be secured without obtaining other quotes. The proposal is for $17,929.82.
RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A NEW VEHICLE GATEWAY BASE STATION SYSTEM IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,929.82.

The VGB System is an approved Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Water Division purchase. The additional $929.82 will be available from the savings after the CAT 918M loader purchase.
