ITEM:
Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the City of San Luis offering to provide congregate meals nutrition services at the Senior Center in exchange for WACOG providing up to $74,400.00 to support the service. (Lizandro Galaviz, Director of Parks & Recreation)
SUMMARY:
Somerton has had a contract with WACOG for both Somerton and San Luis to provide nutritious congregate meals at both Senior Centers. This year Somerton went out on its own and did not include San Luis in its bid for services. So this year, San Luis is offering to provide the services in exchange for up to $74,400.00 in support from WACOG.
The offer is in development because WACOG's funding comes from government sources which have many specific requirements. The final written offer will be provided at the time of the meeting. The basic terms to be offered are as follows.
The City of San Luis will
-add a position for a safe serve certified cook with a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week to prepare nutritious meals for the members of the Senior Center,
-assign one part-time and two existing full-time staff so that part of their duties include serving congregate meals and the related clean-up at the Senior Center.
-report to WACOG on the implementation of the congregate meals nutrition program and
-provide the Senior Center and its amenities for the congregate meals nutrition program.
WACOG will pay up to $74,400.00 at a rate of $6.50 per meal served.
The duration will be one (1) year, renewable for five (5) years.
