ITEM:
Discussion and possible directions to staff on any and all matters regarding Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Border Patrol to provide field training to their Emergency Medical Technicians(EMT's) and Paramedics. (Angel Ramirez, Fire Chief)
SUMMARY:
The City of San Luis Fire Department (SLFD) is requesting authority to affiliate with the United States Border Patrol (USBP) to provide field training to their EMT’s and paramedic students.
Since SLFD has a long transport time to Yuma Regional Medical Center, USBP believes that we provide the best hands-on experiences to their agents when in response to a crisis. With the knowledge and expertise that our SLFD paramedics have, they will provide valuable teaching techniques that they will use and apply it to their daily routines.
There will be no cost to the City of San Luis Fire Department since all paramedics will be on duty at all times.
