ITEM:
Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Resolution No. 2104. A resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona, officially naming the park located at the corner of Emmanuel Avenue and San Pedro Street to Alegria Park. (Mayor Gerardo Sanchez and Lizandro Galaviz, Director of Parks & Recreation)
SUMMARY:
Mrs. Maria Alegria's journey started in San Luis, Arizona, in 1986. Since arriving in San Luis, Mrs. Alegria has coordinated several neighborhood meetings and has assisted the City of San Luis in improving the community and the residents quality of life. Mrs. Alegria has been active in various committees including, Comite de Bienestar, Comite de Bienestar Get Active Group, the South Yuma County Domestic Violence Coalition, and the San Luis neighborhood watch. She too has been actively involved in organizing the month-long Cesar Chavez Celebration and is seen as a community leader by her neighbors.
We would like to rename the park located at the corner of Emmanuel Avenue and San Pedro Street to Alegria Park for the contributions Mrs. Alegria has made and continues to make in her community and to her neighbors.
