ITEM:
Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Order No. 2021-1. An order of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona to authorize the City of San Luis to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of San Luis and the United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force. (Richard Jessup, Chief of Police)
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to enter into a joint law enforcement operation between the City of San Luis and the United States Marshals Service (USMS). As set forth in the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000 and directed by the Attorney General, the USMS has been granted authority to direct and coordinate permanent USMS Violent Offender Task Forces consisting of federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities for the purpose of locating and apprehending fugitives.
