Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding approval of a contract with Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group for the 2023 Annual Blazing Desert ComicCon event in San Luis, Arizona, for the fiscal year 2022-2023.  (Lizandro Galaviz, Acting City Manager)

SUMMARY:

Service: Arizona Western College students through the Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group have put on successful Blazing Desert ComicCon events since 2013. The group is tentatively planning a June 2023 date.  In 2021, the group adapted to the pandemic protocols and put on a drive-in event as described in the request letter.   We are expecting another successful Blazing Desert ComicCon in 2023. They will use the city logo in their advertising for the event. 

Amount: The city has entered into contracts with the Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group for the Blazing Desert ComicCon event since 2016. The City Council has directed staff to budget $5,000.00 for the fiscal year 2022-2023.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT WITH YUMA COUNTY ARTS AND CULTURAL GROUP FOR THE BLAZING DESERT ComicCon EVENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00.
