ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the engagement of Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. for design and engineering services for the Ave F roadway widening project.  (Manuel Hernandez, Public Works Project Manager)

SUMMARY:

The Department of Public Works is seeking Council approval for accepting Professional Services from Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. for design and engineering services for the Ave F roadway widening project. The improvements to this intersection will help alleviate traffic congestion during peak hours for the thousands of residents that travel on this roadway. The widening improvements to a two-travel lanes in each direction will help with traffic flow and circulation. The roadway widening will also increase safety and help reduce vehicle accidents.

The Public Works department is asking Council approval for acceptance of Professional Services in the amount of $83,521.00. This purchase falls under the provisions of City Code 3.05.080 Professional Services and is under the amount that would require state bidding under A.R.S. § 34-103.  Nicklaus Engineering is on the City's on-call list under Resolution 2161.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

§I MOVE TO ACCEPT THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE AVE F WIDENING PROJECT BY NICKLAUS ENGINEERING INCORPORATED NOT TO EXCEED $83,521.00 AND APPROVE THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS AS PRESENTED.

We have a shortfall of $33,521.00 to complete the project. We budget $50,000.00 for FY 2023. We are asking council approval to do a budget transfer from account 100-999-90015 to account 200-210-90010 in the amount of $33,521.00 to cover this project. We do have budget capacity due to delay in the design of the City Hall Building Expansion.
