SUMMARY:
Lift stations are a crucial part of a sewer and wastewater system that pumps wastewater from a lower elevation to a higher elevation. Over time, lift stations become damaged or malfunction due to age, corrosion, or mechanical failure. Lift station rehabilitation refers to the process of repairing, restoring, and upgrading a lift station to its optimal function. Overall, lift station rehabilitation is essential to maintain the functionality of a sewer or wastewater system and protect public health and the environment.
Three (3) local vendors were solicited for this project. Pilkington Construction Co. and Desert Excavating Inc. informed Public Works they could not provide a quote for this project due to time constraints and not being able to have the appropriate credentials on time. DPE Construction, Inc. was the only responsive company to provide a quote.
Staff is seeking Council approval for accepting Construction Services from DPE Construction, Inc. for this project in the amount of $365,323.79. This purchase falls under the provisions of City Code 3.05.050 Performance bond, which bond expense is included in the quote. Project total exceeds the $49,999 allowed by our City Code without bidding, so staff is asking Council to waive formal bidding process to save time and commence work immediately.
