A.  Open public hearing
B.  Close public hearing
C.  Action on Resolution 1139

SUMMARY:

In the year 2000, the President's Executive Order 13166 "Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP)" required that federal agencies work to ensure that recipients of federal financial assistance provide meaningful access to their limited English proficiency applicants and beneficiaries.  The City has always provided meaningful access to  individuals with limited English proficiency who seek City services.  However,  this plan will formalize the policy and make it accessible for public viewing as it will be published on the City's website.

In addition, the written LEP Plan, will facilitate application for Federal Transit Administration funds provided through the Arizona Department of Transportation for a grant for the Senior Center to obtain badly needed new vehicles for transporting the elderly over 65 and disabled individuals of all ages.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

A. I MOVE TO OPEN THE PUBLIC HEARING.
B. I MOVE TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING.
C. I MOVE TO APPROVE AND ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 1139.
