Discussion and possible action regarding any and all matters concerning Order No. 2023-10. An Order of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona, to appoint an Acting Chief of Police. (Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager and Adela Cortez, Director of Human Resources)

SUMMARY:
An internal recruitment was conducted for the duties of the Chief of Police to be assumed in an acting capacity during the temporary vacancy of the Chief of Police position. The selected candidate would continue in the classified service while performing the duties of Acting Chief of Police and return to their regular position once the Chief of Police vacancy is filled. Any pay adjustment for the new duties would follow the City of San Luis Salary Administration policy.
Two employees submitted a Letter of Interest. A summary of their highlights is attached to this Agenda Item as the third attachment. An order has been prepared and attached for each applicant. The order with the applicant selected will be signed. The suggested motion has left the name for the Council to fill in their selection between the two applicants.

Adjustments under the personnel policies for acting positions are available in the salary budget for fiscal year 2023-2024. Due to the vacancy of the Chief of Police position there is budget available to cover any salary adjustments regarding this temporary appointment.
