ITEM:
Public hearing followed by discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Resolution No. 1140. A resolution of the Mayor and Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona approving a grant application to obtain vehicles to enhance mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities through the Arizona Department of Transportation for funds from the Federal Transit Administration Section 5310. SUMMARY:
Staff recommends applying for a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities grant through the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The grant request is for two (2) cutaway 14-passenger vehicles with a lift and one (1) mini van with a lift to transport seniors sixty-five (65) and older and those with disabilities of all ages. San Luis's match is approximately $46,000.00 for all three (3) vehicles. The current Senior Center's vehicles have high mileage and the lifts are not working consistently. These new vehicles will continue the vital service of transporting the City's elderly and disabled of all ages to doctor appointments and to the Senior Center for the services offered at the Senior Center such as meals and nutrition information, craft activities, etc.
