Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the engagement of engineering services with Dahl, Robins, & Associates, Incorporated, for the design of 10th Avenue Widening from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to County 22nd Street. (Tomas Sanchez, City Engineer)
SUMMARY:
The Engineering Department is seeking Council approval to accept a professional services proposal from Dahl, Robins, & Associates Incorporated for the design of 10th Avenue, widening from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to County 22nd Street.
The design will include dual lanes in each direction, a center turn lane, and curbing, sidewalk, street lighting, and retention basins on the east side of the road. Design will also include a multi-use path separated from the road in lieu of the sidewalk as an option for construction. The professional services will also include preparation of legal descriptions and exhibits for new right-of-way acquisition, as well as construction cost estimates.
The roadway improvements will help alleviate traffic congestion during peak hours for residents who travel on this section of road daily, particularly in the vicinity of the nearby schools. The improvements will enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and help reduce or eliminate vehicle and pedestrian accidents.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT BY DAHL, ROBINS, & ASSOCIATES, INCORPORATED FOR THE DESIGN OF 10TH AVENUE WIDENING FROM CESAR CHAVEZ BOULEVARD TO COUNTY 22ND STREET IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000.00.
