Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the acceptance of Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee (AZCASNC) Spay & Neuter Grant Funding. (Humberto Arcos, Grants Coordinator)
SUMMARY:
On November 12, 2025, the San Luis City Council approved a services contract with the Humane Society of Yuma. As part of the contract, a grant funding contingency was included, providing for an additional $5,000 payment to the Humane Society of Yuma upon the successful award of a pending spay-and-neuter grant. The City of San Luis has since been awarded $5,000 through the Arizona Companion Animal Spay & Neuter Committee (AZCASNC) grant program. These funds will be used to support low-cost public spay and neuter services, helping reduce stray animal populations and improve community health and safety. Staff is requesting City Council approval to accept the grant award and authorize its use for eligible program expenses.
RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO ACCEPT THE $5,000 ARIZONA COMPANION ANIMAL SPAY/NEUTER COMMITTEE GRANT, AUTHORIZE STAFF TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, AND IMPLEMENT THE FUNDED PROGRAM ACTIVITIES.

The City of San Luis will receive $5,000 in grant funding from the Arizona Companion Animal Spay & Neuter Committee. No matching funds are required. The grant will be used exclusively for eligible spay & neuter services.
