Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the engagement of legal services from Pierce-Coleman to serve as the contracted City Attorney on an interim basis.  (Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager)

SUMMARY:

The City of San Luis wishes to engage Pierce-Coleman PLLC to serve as interim City Attorney, following the retirement of Kay Macuil and pending recruitment of its next in-house counsel. The scope of this engagement is to serve as the contracted City Attorney on an interim basis and perform the normal functions of the City Attorney's office, as set forth in city code and state law. Joseph Estes will be the primary attorney handling this matter. The City of San Luis estimates total expenses associated with this interim engagement will not exceed $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2026.

Staff is requesting approval under section 3.05.080 Professional Services and to waive formal bidding procedures as allowed under section 3.05.010 (F).
