Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the acceptance and approval of the Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. (Roula Encinas, Director of Finance)

SUMMARY:

Pursuant to state statute, the City Council is required to adopt a tentative budget to establish the maximum expenditure ceiling. Prior to the final adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget, the City Council may reallocate expenditures and revenues among departments differently than set forth in the tentative budget and may decrease expenditures as well.

Budget preparation workshops were held in February 2026, followed by a Budget Retreat in April 2026 and a Work Session in May 2026, during which the City Council provided additional direction and priorities. Administrative staff compiled the information and recommendations from these meetings to prepare the proposed revenues and expenditures/expenses for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. The tentative budget has now been submitted to the City Council for acceptance.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027 AS PRESENTED.
