Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Ordinance No. 484. An Ordinance of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona, adding San Luis City Code Section 7.05.040, Dog Parks; adopting the City of San Luis Dog Park Policy & Rules, repealing and conflicting provisions; and providing for severability. SUMMARY:
On February 12, 2026, the City of San Luis opened it's first park catered exclusively to dogs ("Dog Park"). To support the safety of residents and pets while using the Dog Park, staff, through a collaborative effort among various departments, has developed the City of San Luis Dog Park Policy & Rules to implement a standard of use. This Policy and Rules intend to educate residents on the proper use of the Dog Park while providing guidelines on when a pet wouldn't be permitted to use the facility. Staff intends to have these rules posted at the Dog Park with a link to allow residents to access the full policy online.
In order to adopt the Dog Park Policy & Rules, this ordinance also adds section 7.05.040; Dog Parks to the City Code that defines this type of park and allows for Council amendments to the Policy and Rules by resolution.
