ITEM:
Presentation followed by discussion on any and all matters regarding advanced water metering infrastructure. (Olivia Jenkins, Utilities Director and Dana Kepner Company)
SUMMARY:
Presentation by Frank Howe, Sale Representative and Matthew Roeder, Auto Meter Reading (AMR) Specialist from Dana Kepner Company, Sensus Metering Systems distributor for this area.
The City of San Luis invested and integrated the AMR in 2006. The City went from reading meters manually to an automated system. The manual task required six to eight (6-8) employees and up to four (4) days to complete. The meter reading and billing also required one to two (1-2) employees to perform the data entry of meter reads into computer/billing software with approximately 4,600 meters at that time.
The AMR infrastructure in place since 2006 has allowed the City's water meter reading and billing processes to be efficient in many aspects. The presentation is to provide City Council with information for the next generation and trend for water meter reading infrastructure.
