Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the approval of a 3-month renewal agreement between the City of San Luis and Border Gym Fitness, L.L.C. (Olivia Jenkins, Director of Human Resources and Fausto Gonzalez, HR Training & Programs Coordinator)
SUMMARY:
Human Resources (HR) is submitting Border Gym Fitness service contract for review and consideration. Mr. Luis Chang, owner of Border Gym Fitness was given a 3-month contract renewal ending March 31, 2018. The 3-month contract was issued in view of concerns that were brought to HR attention by employees. These concerns were addressed and discussed with Mr. Chang, at time of renewal and during a recent meeting on March 7, 2018. HR has surveyed the employees using Border Gym Fitness and results indicate same issues addressed before such as the non-working equipment and maintenance/cleanliness of the facility. The renewal was contingent on improvements recommended by the wellness committee. However, the survey also reflects positive feedback as well, mostly for the classes offered. A copy of the survey results was provided to Mr. Chang, during the meeting he was able to provide feedback on the non-satisfactory responses, he would also provide responses in writing for the record.
Gym membership benefit for city employees is part of the City's Wellness Program to provide options and encouraging employees to become physically active in a non-work related environment, adopt and maintain healthy habits. Employee enrollment is limited to 50 employees per month between two providers, and in the last three months, the average number of enrolled employees in Border Fitness gym is about 20 employees.
