Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the approval of Amendment No. 2 and No. 3 to the engineering design proposal of Union Street and 6th Avenue Paving Project by Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. (Eulogio Vera, Director of Public Works)
SUMMARY:
Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. completed the design for the paving of a section of Union Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. In previously approved addendum no. 1 to the original proposal, NEI included design services to include paving of 6th Avenue including all necessary drainage improvements. Due to an unforeseen permitting requirement with Arizona State Land Department, paving of 6th Avenue is not possible at this time. Staff is needing additional services from NEI, to modify plans, contract documents, and cost estimates to reflect only the paving of Union Street. Additionally, bidding assistance is also needed from NEI and both services are included in Addendum no. 2 with a combined total of $10,050.00.
Once we start construction, staff believes that retaining NEI for materials testing and construction staking would help consistency with the project as they are the designers. These services are explained in Addendum no. 3 and are to be billed on a time and materials basis with an estimated an amount not to exceed $14,000.00.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE NEI SERVICES AS PRESENTED IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $14,000.00.
