ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the approval to award the International Plaza One Roadway Improvements Project (Piceno Dr., Bentu Ave., Cadena Ave., and Dimas Ave.) to DPE Construction who was the lowest responsive bidder with a bid of $182,932.05.  (Eulogio Vera, Director of Public Works)

SUMMARY:

Background
International Plaza One is one of the oldest subdivisions in San Luis. The City first paved its streets in the mid-1980's.  There are significant drainage problems as well as some sewer line settlement issues that also need repair.  City Staff completed a bid package to apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to fix the most severe sewer and drainage issues and to pave the streets where said repairs will go in.

This agenda item
This agenda item is for the project that will take care of repaving all the remaining streets which are not included in the project that is intended to be funded by the CDBG grant.  This project was not budgeted this fiscal year but will be completed with funds set aside as match funds for the CDBG project, which will not be used this fiscal year.  The project will include removal of the existing pavement and replacement with a thicker pavement section for all the streets. Due to Piceno Drive serving much heavier truck traffic, removals will include the entire structural section and replaced with a thicker ABC and asphalt section.  The project will also include installation of some new sidewalk ramps.

The project was advertised for bids in the Yuma Sun and received three proposals on March 26th, 2018.  Bidders were CEMEX, SWP, and DPE, with DPE having the lowest responsive bid in the amount of $182,932.05.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO AWARD AND APPROVE THE CONTRACT TO DPE IN THE AMOUNT OF $182,932.00.
