Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding authorization to purchase 45 Defense Gun Safes and two (2) Cabinet Gun Safes for the San Luis Police Department using Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Capital Project budgeted funds. (Richard Jessup, Chief of Police)
SUMMARY:
The San Luis Police Department is seeking approval for the purchase of 45 new Defense Gun Safes and two (2) Cabinet Gun Safes.
Total Cost
The Police Department obtained four (4) written quotes. The total cost for the lowest quote for the new safes will be $13,084.91, including tax.
Defense Gun Safes
Quotes were obtained from three (3) different vendors for the purchase of the Defense Gun Safes, and one (1) vendor with a sole source letter for the Cabinet Gun Safes. The lowest bid for the Defense Gun Safes was from The Safe Keeper, with a total cost of $12,000.00.
Cabinets
The cost of the cabinets will be $1,084.91.
With the budgeted amount, the Police Department will be able to purchase 45 new Defense Gun Safes and two (2) Cabinet Gun Safes. The purchase of these safes will enhance security and mitigate the liability associated with weapons storage.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF 45 DEFENSE GUN SAFES AND TWO (2) CABINET GUN SAFES FOR THE SAN LUIS POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,085 AS PRESENTED.
