Presentation followed by discussion and possible directions to staff on any and all matters regarding a Special Event Liquor License Application for the 2020 Lechuga Fest to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020.  (Lizandro Galaviz, Director of Parks & Recreation Department)

The City of San Luis Parks and Recreation Department is proposing to partner with Jaizu Entertainment Promotions to present an event concert to bring the band “La Brissa” (Cumbia style music) to our community. Staff will be developing a contract with promoters that will be funding the entertainment, sound, stage and other requirements by City Attorney and Risk Management for this event. The city would provide the facility venue for the event (fields, Cultural Center and trash containers).  This is an opportunity to provide the residents with a concert type event that brings popular groups and artists for a low cost to the area. The city would request the Special Event Liquor Permit, with 25% going to the city and 75% to Jaizu Entertainment Promotions. This would be a onetime trial basis, and depending on the turnout, staff would renegotiate the contract for future events.  Staff would like to develop these types of events to make the City of San Luis a tourism destination point and an economic boost opportunity for our local businesses. Funds raised from this event would benefit the field renovation fund to continue to enhance Joe Orduño Park.
