ITEM:
Discussion and possible directions to staff on any and all matters regarding the Cesar Chavez Boulevard Widening Project. (Jenny Torres, Economic Development Manager; Jose A. Guzman, Director of Planning & Zoning; Eulogio Vera, Director of Public Works; and Lizandro Galaviz, Director of Parks & Recreation)
SUMMARY:
The Economic Development Department, Planning & Zoning Department, Public Works Department, and Parks and Recreation Department will be providing an update on the Cesar Chavez Boulevard widening project.
The project will focus on the Right-of-Way (ROW) acquisition of federal, state, and private land. The update will provide cost, timeframes, conceptual design, and application for the BUILD Grant. Staff will provide several exhibits showing the road/bicycle lanes and how it interconnects with other areas of the community.
Staff is requesting direction from City Council on the process of the predevelopment tasks needed to submit an application for federal funding and the ability to discuss the long term vision of the project.
