Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Resolution No. 2141. A resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona approving the addendum to the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of San Luis, Arizona and Yuma County for the purpose of providing mandatory weekend and holiday court services for San Luis Municipal Court. The City of San Luis has previously entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Yuma County and it’s justice courts to provide for weekend and holiday coverage for San Luis Municipal Court. Under Rule 4.1 of the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure, a person who is arrested must be brought before a judge within 24 hours, even on weekends and holidays. Under this IGA, Yuma County provides a judge and other necessary personnel and materials to conduct hearings on weekends and holidays to cover all the local courts. The City of San Luis has entered into this IGA for several years, and under the contract, the city agrees to pay Yuma County based on the caseload calculated during the fiscal year. Cost varies from year-to-year but has always been under $1,500.00, with the amount in 2018 and 2019 being $945.00. Staff is requesting that City Council approve the Addendum in the amount of $601.00.
