ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any an all matters regarding contract to Core Engineering Group, PLLC to provide design services associated with the improvements on Juan Sanchez Boulevard and the intersections with 4th and 1st Avenue, which will be funded out of the HURF Capital Outlay Budget. (Eulogio Vera, Public Works Director)

SUMMARY:

Core Engineering Group completed for the City the traffic study for the Juan Sanchez Boulevard and 4th/1st Avenue intersections in October 2015 and we are now ready to move on to the design phase, which will be followed by construction thereafter.  Core Engineering Group is on the City's on-call list of professional engineers in compliance with Arizona Revised Statute 34-102 for multiple professional construction contracts.  The contract amount of $59,903.00 is to provide design services associated with the proposed roadway improvements on Juan Sanchez Boulevard and the intersections with 4th and 1st Avenue.  Staff recommends approval of this contract as Core Engineering Group conducted the traffic study for these intersections and will provide continuity on the project and hopefully expedite the design process.  The $59,903.00 will be funded out of the HURF Capital Outlay Budget.  The proposed contract is attached.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE DESIGN CONTRACT FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ON JUAN SANCHEZ BOULEVARD AND THE INTERSECTIONS AT FOURTH AND FIRST AVENUES IN THE AMOUNT OF $59,903.00 AS PRESENTED.
