ITEM:
Discussion and possible directions to staff on any and all matters regarding ratifying staff's correction of the entity's name from Don Peterson Engineering, Inc. to DPE Construction, Inc., on the contract City Council approved on March 17, 2021, for the construction of the Magrino Industrial Park Unit III, base phase roadway improvements project from Don Peterson Engineering, Inc. to DPE Construction, Inc. (Jenny Torres, Economic Development Manager)
SUMMARY:
Background
On March 17, 2021, City Council approved the construction contract to build the Magrino Industrial Park, Phase III base roadway improvements. As City Council Members may recall, the City of San Luis received a $500,000.00 Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) grant to pay for the road's construction. As per the June 2020, agreement between the Greater Yuma Port Authority (GYPA) and the city, GYPA will pay the $50,000.00 (10%) match as required by the grant and $21,997.80 for engineering services for the construction administration.
After competitive bidding, City Council awarded the contract to the low bid. The correct entity name is DPE, Construction, Inc. However, in the March 17, 2021, agenda item and on the contract, the entity name was "Don Peterson Engineering, Inc" Don Peterson Engineering, Inc. is the parent company to DPE Construction, Inc. The entity that will actually do the work is DPE Construction, Inc. The error only appeared on one page of the contract, so staff substituted the correct name and replaced that page.
So that the record is clear, staff requests that this matter be set on the following week's consent agenda to ratify staff's correction.
