Resolution

ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Resolution No. 2175.  A resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona, declaring as a public record those certain documents filed with the City Clerk and titled “Code of Ordinances of the City San Luis, Arizona."  (Sonia Cornelio, City Clerk)

SUMMARY:

Under A.R.S. § 9-812 and § 39-204, ordinances passed by City Council must be published in the newspaper.  To avoid publishing the entire volume of the San Luis City Code, A.R.S. § 9-802 allows adoption by reference to three (3) copies of public records in existence and filed with the City Clerk.  This Resolution declares the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Luis, Arizona to be public records.  As public records, they may be referenced in an ordinance to adopt them without publishing the voluminous pages in the newspaper at an extraordinary cost.  The next item on the agenda is Ordinance 415, which adopts the Code by reference.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 2175 AS PRESENTED.
