Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding a proposed contract with Parks and Recreation Director Lizandro Galaviz to assume the additional duties of Interim City Manager. (Kay Macuil, City Attorney)
SUMMARY:
Effective August 20, 2021, City Council appointed the city's Director of Parks and Recreation Department, Lizandro Galaviz, to be the Interim City Manager while maintaining his permanent position of Director of Parks and Recreation Department. Council directed the City Attorney to prepare a contract to include a 25% increase in salary to reflect the increase in duties during the period that he will be serving as Interim City Manager.
A budgeted salary adjustment for employees goes into effect on August 28, 2021. Mr. Galaviz requested the 25% be 25% of the adjusted salary, rather than the one in place on August 20, 2021. The adjusted salary is $3,263.93 every two weeks and 25% of that is an additional $815.98 every two weeks or a total salary of $4,079.91 every two weeks.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER'S CONTRACT AS PRESENTED FOR LIZANDRO GALAVIZ.

Bi-weekly salary will go from $3,263.93 to $4,079.91
Based on duties, Acting City Manager salary will be split as follows:
Administration will pay 40%
Parks will pay 60%
There is budget capacity in Administration to cover this expenditure due to several vacancies. No transfer is needed.
