Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding authorization to purchase a new 2020 Ford Starcraft Allstar Bus for the Senior Center. (Angelica Roldan, Acting Director of Parks and Recreation)
SUMMARY:
The Senior Center currently has two buses that are used to transport seniors around the City and take them on trips. Before the pandemic, the Senior Center would schedule field trips to other Cities to have seniors see other Senior Center facilities and entertainment. Due to the usage of these buses over the years, they are fairly worn out and have high mileage. This is a concern for staff and staff decided to budget the purchase of a new bus for Fiscal Year 2021-2022.
For this Fiscal Year, the Senior Center was approved a budget of $89,870.00 (Eighty-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy Dollars) for the purchase of a Ford passenger bus with wheelchair accessibility. Staff contacted vendor, Creative Bus Sales, and received a quote for a new 2020 Ford Starcraft Allstar Bus for the price of $89,166.00 (Eighty-Nine Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty-Six Dollars). This bus meets the criteria that staff was looking for and budgeted this fiscal year since it is a 20 passenger vehicle with wheelchair accessibility.
Staff would like to seek authorization to purchase the 2020 Ford Starcraft Allstar Bus from Creative Bus Sales. The quote presented is under State Contract CTR054848 which is under the San Luis City Code - Purchasing Section 3.05.090 - Cooperative Purchasing.
