7.C.
Regular City Council Meeting
Meeting Date:

Department Head:
Eulogio Vera
Submitted By:
Manuel Hernandez, Project Manager, Public Works Department
Action Requested:
Motion

ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the awarding of a construction services contract to Taylor Engineering, P.L.L.C. for the replacement of five (5) sanitary sewer manholes located near Hidalgo Ave and Cesar Chavez Boulevard.  (Manuel Hernandez, Acting Assistant Director of Public Works)

SUMMARY:

Public Works identified that the initial bids received in July of this year were high for the scope of work outlined in the solicitation.  This second formal bid for the manhole project resulted in much lower bid results, potentially saving the City of San Luis $75,000.00.  The formal bid process resulted in three (3) bids, with Taylor Engineering, P.L.L.C. being the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $161,000.00.

The Department of Public Works is seeking the Mayor and Council's approval for accepting and awarding a construction contract to Taylor Engineering P.L.L.C., the lowest responsible bidder, for the Hidalgo Avenue Manhole Replacement Project.  This purchase falls under the provisions of City Code 3.05.030, 3.05.040, and 3.05.050.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO ACCEPT AND AWARD THE SUCCESSFUL BID TO TAYLOR ENGINEERING, P.L.L.C., FOR THE HIDALGO AVENUE MANHOLE REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $161,000.00.
