Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the acceptance and award of a construction contract to Continental Flooring Company for the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center Floor Replacement Project.  (Edgar Juarez, Facilities Project Coordinator)

SUMMARY:

The Division of Facilities is seeking Council approval for accepting and awarding a construction contract to Continental Flooring Company, 9319 N 94th Way, Suite 1000, Scottsdale, AZ 85258 for the City of San Luis Cultural Center Floor Replacement Project.  Continental Flooring Company ranked highest in accordance with the Request for Proposal Documents, and they submitted the most responsible bid.

The project consists of removing existing flooring, surface preparation, and installation of new vinyl composite tile (VCT) in the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center in the following areas: auditorium, audio room, lobby, hallway, offices, and janitorial room.  In addition, stage flooring will be replaced by hardwood flooring.  The Cultural Center is in need of floor replacement since the current floor has deteriorated over time and has served its life expectancy.

The Facilities Division is seeking Council approval of Construction Services from Continental Flooring Company and the contract for this project for the amount of $69,764.00 as permitted under the city's procurement code section 3.05.030 Bidding. 

 

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO AWARD AND APPROVE THE CONTRACT TO CONTINENTAL FLOORING COMPANY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $69,764.00 FOR THE PROJECT PRESENTED.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT (IF THIS IS A BUDGET TRANSFER, YOU MUST ATTACH THE BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FORM):

The adopted budget for this project is $66,443.96. Per finance, we are able to use $3,321 additional funds needed from the City Hall Exterior Paint Project since this project will not require the full adopted amount. These two accounts fall under the same GL Account, #100-999-89000.
