ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the award of a construction contract to DPE Construction, Inc. for the Merrill Avenue Improvements Phase I (CDBG #122-24).  (Armando Esparza, Director of Economic Development)

SUMMARY:

The Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) awarded the City of San Luis a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from their regional account in the amount of $466,638.00 for the Merrill Avenue Improvements Phase I. The proposed work is located within the limits of the City of San Luis, Arizona. The work consists of but is not limited to removals of 4,299 square yards or asphalt, installation of 9,286 square feet of sidewalk, 1,096 square feet of sidewalk ramps, 8,854 square yards of asphalt and necessary striping and signage

The City received two construction bids from DPE Construction, Inc. and Gutierrez Canales Engineering, PC., for the proposed project's construction. DPE Construction Inc. was selected competitively by sealed bids and was deemed the lowest bidder to be qualified and capable of performing the contract.

Staff is requesting the Council to approve the construction contract to DPE Construction Inc. in the amount of $1,422,750.00.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO DPE CONSTRUCTION, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,422,750.00, AS PRESENTED IN THIS AGENDA ITEM.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT (IF THIS IS A BUDGET TRANSFER, YOU MUST ATTACH THE BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FORM):

The City allocated $1,458,000.00 in capital outlays for the construction and construction administration of the project. The City awarded a construction administration contract to James Davey in the amount of $34,545.00 and the construction bid amount is $1,422,750.00. The City has budgeted for this project for FY 25 on account 255-210-90015.217 Capital Outlay - CIP Merrill Ave.
