Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the award of a contract to Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. for the County 25th Extension to Avenue B project. (Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager)

The City of San Luis is interested in providing an alternative route for commercial traffic to enhance the connectivity of commercial trucks to their destination. The Greater Yuma Port Authority (GYPA) board, at their meeting of May 20, 2024, approved the allocation of $134,690.00 for the County 25th extension to Avenue B pre-design. The Greater Yuma Port Authority requested the City to lead the engagement services of Kimley Horn and Associates, and the GYPA will reimburse the city for the cost of the pre-design. The pre-design will include a preliminary design survey, right-of-way delineation, alternative analysis, preliminary drainage design, and striping. The preliminary design will allow the city to identify right of way (ROW) and begin the process of acquiring property from the Arizona State Land Department and the Bureau of Reclamation.  

Kimley Horn and Associates Inc. is a provider on the on-call engineering list, per Resolution No. 2161. Staff recommends approval of the contract for Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. as stated in the motion.
