ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding funding for continued replacement of LED lighting for local parks and/or retention areas in the City of San Luis. (Louie Galaviz, Parks & Recreation Director)

SUMMARY:

Staff would like to continue working with APS Solutions for the Business program in the LED Street Lighting Retrofit. This program helps the City by getting old LED lights replaced with new LED lights in the City's Retention Basins and Parks. Also, based on these LED light replacements, the City qualifies for retro pay rebates. The City spent $15,000.00 last year and qualified for a rebate this year in which the City was awarded $11,284.11 for project APS-16-16988: LED Street Lighting Retrofit. Parks and Recreation would like to request  the $11,284.11 to continue with this project and will be applying for the same type of reimbursement funding for this year. Staff believes this program is very beneficial to the Parks and Recreation Department and residents since we are able to provide them with exceptional lighting services while reducing energy use and cost.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE SPENDING THE ENTIRE REBATE AMOUNT OF $11,284.11 FROM THE APS SOLUTIONS PROGRAM ON THE PURCHASE OF LED LIGHTING FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS IN THE CITY OF SAN LUIS.
