Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the purchase of one four-wheel drive vehicle with police equipment for Operation Stone Garden to be paid with grant funds. (Victor Figueroa, Lieutenant)
SUMMARY:
The Arizona Department of Homeland Security awarded $50,000.00 to the City of San Luis for the Police Department to buy a four-wheel-drive (4x4) vehicle with police equipment under Fiscal Year 2016 of the Operation Stonegarden Grant Program for grant #160426-02.
The vehicle will be specifically used for Operations Stonegarden. During the times of the operation, officers will maintain vigilance in high traffic areas along the border and employ methods to assist in deterring illicit cross-border traffic in areas predetermined and identified by the City of San Luis Police Department to include areas between the United States-Mexico border, Juan Sanchez Boulevard, Avenue B, Avenue H, the levee and County 21½, Highway 95 and Arizona 195.
The San Luis Police Department is requesting to purchase a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 from Courtesy Chevrolet for the amount of $37,059.78 and equipped by Arizona Emergency Products for the amount of $12,347.39. Courtesy Chevrolet is under State Contract ADSPO12-016667 and Arizona Emergency Products is under the Yavapai County Contract #111201 which will be in accordance with the San Luis City Code-Purchasing § 36.09, Cooperative Purchasing.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE PURCHASE OF A CHEVROLET TAHOE FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLE AND POLICE EQUIPMENT AS PRESENTED FOR THE OPERATION STONEGARDEN PROGRAM AND TO USE THE OPERATION STONEGARDEN GRANT MONIES TO OFFSET THE COSTS OF THESE PURCHASES.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT (IF THIS IS A BUDGET TRANSFER, YOU MUST ATTACH THE BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FORM):
This fiscal impact is off-set by the $50,000.00 Arizona Home Land Security grant to the City of San Luis for purposes of the San Luis Police Department for a 4x4 fully equipped vehicle under Fiscal Year 2016 Operation Stonegarden Grant Program OPSG Equipment grant #160426-02.
