ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the approval of an Engineering Design Proposal for the Juan Sanchez Boulevard Reconstruction Project between Main Street and Merrill Avenue by James Davey and Associates, Inc.  (Eulogio Vera, Public Works Director)

SUMMARY:

Staff has been working with Core Engineering on the design of the 4th Avenue and Juan Sanchez Boulevard Intersection project and simultaneously working with Arizona State Land Department and the Gadsden Elementary School District (GESD) to acquire right of way for the project as well as for the access to the elementary schools off Union Street.

The City is still working with GESD on finalizing the IGA so that together we can apply for the right of way to the Arizona State Land Department.  As the right of way acquisition process is lengthy and we anticipate several months wait time before we actually have right of way for our proposed project, staff is recommending we use funds that were allocated for this project in FY 17 for the design of Juan Sanchez Boulevard Reconstruction project and the design for the paving of Union Street.
