Discuss Interview Date and Process for Civil Legal Services - Please Note:  the order of the cases was changed at  the meeting.

As Council is aware, staff published a notice for Requests for Proposals for Legal Services.  The deadline for submittal was July 9, 2021.  Proposals were received from five different firms, including Eckberg Lammers Attorneys at Law, Hoff Barry Attorneys, Holstad & Knaak, PLC, Kennedy & Graven Chartered, and Ratwik, Roszak, & Maloney, P.A. 

Note, this case was scheduled for the July 27, 2021 work session; however, due to time constraints, it has been rescheduled for this evening. 

An evaluation committee consisting of staff members will review the five proposals.  Given that there are only five firms applying and that all firms appear to meet qualifications, staff is recommending that all five firms be interviewed by the full Council and such interviews will be scheduled so as to be completed on or about August 17, 2021.  August 17th was removed as a potential meeting date because of the EDA sponsored Business appreciation golf event.  Based on this schedule, a contract for legal services with the selected firm would come to the Council for consideration on the September 14, 2021 agenda.

Staff is asking for Council to select a date for interviews and to discuss the process for interviewing the firms.  Possible dates to consider include:   Wednesday, August 18,  Thursday August 19, or Monday, August 23.  Interviews would last approximately 4 hours total.  Once a date(s) is established we will confirm availability with the candidates.
