Title:
Discuss Utility Easement Resolution
Background:
As Council is aware, utilities have an obligation to manage rights-of-way and easements, including removing trees, for safety and operational reasons to ensure continued reliable service. The City has entered into franchise agreements with each utility company to allow them to utilize the City's rights-of-way.
Residents and Ramsey officials have expressed concern over current practices in regard to the management of the rights-of-way and easements. Therefore, staff has drafted a resolution (attached) for Council consideration which spells out more what is requested of each utility doing business in Ramsey.
Recommendation:
The attached resolution, if approved by Council, would be forwarded to each utility doing business in the community.
