Title:
Charter Commission Update
Purpose/Background:
Purpose: The purpose of this discussion is to update the Council on a Charter Commission seat that expires December 31, 2022 and seek additional clarification regarding the process.
Background: There is one seat on the Charter Commission that is expiring December 31, 2022, and the commissioner has indicated their desire to be reappointed. Based on the Charter Recruitment policy, if all incumbents wish to be reappointed an annual recruitment process will be conducted for potential future vacancies. Based on that policy language, staff is seeking clarification on which of the following actions to take:
A) Submit just the incumbent's reapplication materials
B) Submit the incumbent's reapplication materials AND all applications received in the last 14 months
C) Submit incumbent's reapplication materials AND all applications received in the last 14 months AND any new applications
D) Other action
Staff believes the City Council's intent is aligned with option A, but would like to confirm before proceeding.
Advertising: The current ongoing Charter Commission ad in the Ramsey Resident is attached. Discuss possible changes for the November/December issue of the Ramsey Resident. The remaining advertisements (Website/QCTV/Newspaper/Community Sign & Facebook) will mirror the language used in the Ramsey Resident ad.
