Title
Authorization to Hire a Building Maintenance Worker Filling a Pending Vacancy
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council's authorization to hire a full-time Building Maintenance Worker to backfill a soon-to-be vacant position in building maintenance due to the pending retirement of Mr. Don Meyenburg.
An internal and external recruitment was conducted. Mr. Daniel Allen met the requirements of the position and was included in the recruitment process. Staff completed the necessary background checks and is recommending that Mr. Daniel Allen be hired as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker.
With the City Council's authorization, Mr. Allen will start as the City's new Building Maintenance worker on or near March 1, 2023. Mr. Allen, as with all City employees recognized by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) bargaining unit, will serve a six-month probationary period and will be subject to the City's Personnel Policy and the AFSCME Labor Agreement.

Funding Source:
The funding required for this position is included in the 2023 budget.
Recommendation:
Authorize hiring Mr. Daniel Allen as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near March 1, 2023, at $21.505 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2023 wage scale.
