Purpose/Background:

Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to update the Public Works Committee on current and proposed City, County and MnDOT improvement projects and studies, and on other items of interest to the Committee.

City Improvement Projects
  • 161st Avenue Reconstruction (IP #23-01)
    • Preconstruction meeting conducted May 3, 2023
    • Staff continues to work with property owners of west pond site to address their concerns
    • Construction in progress (tree clearing 5/15 week, reclaim 5/24 week, utilities start 5/30)
  • Central Park Parking Lot Reconstruction (IP #23-02)
    • Staff is preparing plans and specifications
    • Fall 2023 construction proposed (after Game Fair)
  • 167th Avenue Reconstruction (IP #23-04)
    • Bolton & Menk is preparing plans and specifications
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • Barthels Rum River Acres 2nd Reconstruction (IP #23-05)
    • Bid opening 9 AM on May 19, 2023
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • 2023 MSA Pavement Overlay Improvements (IP #23-06)
    • Staff is preparing plans and specifications
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • 2023 Neighborhood Pavement Overlay Improvements (IP #23-07)
    • Preconstruction meeting conducted May 11, 2023
    • Construction proposed to start June 6, 2023
  • 2023 Crack Seal Improvements (IP #23-08)
    • Contract awarded to Northwest Asphalt
    • June 2023 construction proposed
  • 2023 Pavement Rejuvenator Improvements (IP #23-09)
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • Whispering Pines Estates Plat 3 Reconstructions (IP #23-10)
    • Staff is preparing plans and specifications
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • Trott Brook Crossing Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Improvements (IP #23-11)
    • Bolton and Menk is preparing plans and specifications
    • Coordinating design and project schedule w/ Trott Brook Crossing/TCLD
    • Fall 2023 final completion proposed
  • HY-10 Ramsey Improvements (IP #23-12)
    • Contract awarded to Douglas-Kerr Underground, LLC
    • Acquiring right-of-way and easements
    • 2023 construction proposed
  • Highway 47 Sound Wall north of Xkimo Street (IP #22-17)
    • MnDOT is preparing draft Cooperative Construction Agreement
    • Staff anticipates requesting Council approval to authorize bids May/June, 2023
  • WTP Trunk Watermain Improvements (#21-08)
    • Staff anticipates requesting Council approval to amend SEH, Inc. agreement to revise plans and remove inspections June 13, 2023
    • Staff anticipates requesting Council approval of plans and authorization to re-bid Fall 2023
  • Centralized Water Treatment Plant (#21-09)
    • Preconstruction meeting conducted April 26, 2023
    • Construction will begin June 2023
    • Substantial completion scheduled for May 1, 2025
    • Final completion scheduled for August 1, 2025
  • Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Improvements (IP #20-11)
    • Final design plans at 100-percent
    • Construction schedule; June 2023 through early 2026 (2024 - 2025 majority)
    • Riverdale Drive east of SLB & temp US 10 widening Summer/Fall 2023
  • Riverdale Drive Extension – Llama Street to Bowers Drive (IP #20-05)
    • Construction substantially complete è Hwy 10 improvements in progress
  • Wetland 114P Outlet Control Improvements (#19-07)
    • Sanitary sewer manhole castings raised
    • DNR Permit issued
    • Grading & outlet control structure work to occur Spring/Summer 2023
 
City of Anoka Improvement Projects  
Anoka County Improvement Projects
  • Roundabout at Armstrong Boulevard/CSAH 83 and Alpine Drive (IP #23-03)
    • City cost share = $28,667.64 per JPA
    • Construction began late March
    • Armstrong Boulevard will remain open to traffic at all times
    • Alpine Drive will close to traffic either side of Armstrong Boulevard at different times 
    • Construction complete Fall 2023
 
MnDOT Improvement Projects  
Studies & Items of Interest
  • Sunfish Lake Sedimentation Basin Improvements
    • Property owner indicated interest in filling swale and grading sedimentation basin
    • Staff delineated rear property line last Fall and notified property owner
    • Staff is working to contact property owner
  • Elk River Highway 10 Corridor Study

Timeframe:

Staff estimates up to 10 minutes will be needed for updates and discussion.
